UPGRADING MY 2002 SUZUKI SV650 TO A ROAD BEAST

Earlier this year, my elder brother and I adopted an orphaned 2002 suzuki sv650. I mean it when I say orphaned because we picked her from the "gutters", where she had long been parked due to an ECU fault. Before I continue, above is a picture of a stock 2002 suzuki sv650 similar to (but neater than) what we got.

First thing we did was change the ECU and rectifier for a price less than $150. After some minor electrical repairs, the bike got up running again. Next, we changed the color from the stock blue/black color to a matte black color. The new painting included the frame or chassis, plastic parts and engine block. Cost of painting...20,000 naira.

The round headlights was not a pleasant sight and reminded me of the okadas in our streets. Of course, nobody wants to be mistaken for an okada and probably flagged down by people looking for commercial motorcyclists. Therefore, I got a new headlight assembly. I had the intentions of getting a headlight mask, but I found a cheaper option. It was a mean looking LED headlight assembly. The downside to it was that it was not produced to actually be used as night. The illumination was very poor. However, it looked very badass in the pictures I found online. Therefore, I purchased it along with two halo strobe light bulbs. The strobe halo lights have different modes, which include a blue halo ring mode, a steady white LED mode and a flashing white LED mode. After it was installed, the strobe lights provided great lighting at night, while giving a nice halo effect during the day. Put new signal lights too. These did not cost upto $100 in total.

Next upgrade was the exhaust muffler. The stock exhaust was a very silent and long, ugly looking one. Of course nobody wants to ride a streetfighter sounding like a wimp. You have to make a bold statement! Therefore, we searched online for various aftermarket mufflers. $600-$1000 Yoshimura or Akrapovic mufflers were not an option, so we got this cheaper chinese Akrapovic knockoff. These chinese did a great job for an immitation. Got this for $60 and it fit the bike perfectly. Took out the silencer and the bike sounded like a ducati. Deep, throaty and rough. The carbon styling also complimented the bike's color.

....and crash guards were manually constructed onto it.

Without talking a lot. Here are pictures and a video of the final product.
